ART @ the Core
Stone Paper Scissors, Eveoke Dance Theatre, TranscenDance Youth Arts Project and North Park Main Street have joined forces to develop a neighborhood initiative called ART @ the Core: Building Community. Art @ the Core is a community movement in North Park and City Heights that uses art as a catalyzing force for positive change. Our goal is to increase access, engagement, and participation in the civic process through cultural development. We seek to identify and utilize community resources to build sustainable, representative, inclusive processes that support and expand constituencies that enhance the cultural and economic vitality of the community. September 2008: in California Contemporary Artists at the State Capital in Sacramento.
October 3-20th, 2008: in Push Pull at the Vancouver School of Art in Victoria B.C., Canada. This exhibit links 6 artists from San Diego and 6 from Victoria in an exhibit that began at ART Produce Gallery.
Art Produce Gallery Obama Speech Party Art Produce Gallery hosted an open party to the community to view Barack Obama's historic address to the Democratic Convention in the Fall of 2008. Over 200 people gathered to view the event in two large screen viewing areas in the Gallery.
